FAQ's
Q: Are we a good fit?
A: During the time we're together, it will be very laid back and child-led. Sometimes I'll position you in certain ways to get dramatic and poetic stances, but most times you'll hear me say, "touch someone, get comfortable, keep connecting". We'll play games, get to know each other, listen to music, splash in the water, get dirty, and just go with the flow. If you're adventurous, embrace the chaos, don't expect your kids to sit still and smile, are drawn to images that focus on connection over perfection (hair blowing in the wind, mid full-belly laughs, clothes getting dirty or wet), and want real life moments captured, then YES, you are my kind of tribe and we are definitely a good fit for each other.
Q: Do we have to use your Client Closet?
A: Nope! My Client Closet is just an extra way for me to help my client's out, ease their stress with outfits, and create a luxurious experience for them. I will be sending you a full PDF Styling Guide and Vision Board which will help you along the way with your wardrobe process, and I recommend clients send me photos of their outfits laid out on their bed at least 2 weeks before their session that way if we need to problem solve anything, we still have some time. It is HIGHLY recommended you follow my styling suggestions and colour pallet advice to ensure your images are cohesive and consistent with what you see in my portfolio. One "too bright" colour or "too busy" pattern can throw the entire editing process off.
Q: When do we do the session?
A: Outdoor sessions are taken at Golden Hour, which is 1-2 hours prior to the sun setting. This is when the light is soft and luminous, and is what gives my images that golden glow. Indoor lifestyle sessions are taken mid-day when the sun is high as I use natural window light only when working indoors. In some rare cases, I do shoot outdoors earlier than Golden Hour. For example, if we're shooting in a creek location that is heavily treed, I'll recommend meeting 2-3 hours before sunset. Or, if we're shooting on an overcast day, I'll suggest meeting 2-3 hours before sunset so we have more light to play with.
Q: Do you offer mini sessions?
A: I only offer mini sessions twice a year seasonally. Once in the spring for Mother's Day minis, and once in the winter for Christmas minis. I do not offer mini sessions during any other time of the year because my sessions are meant to be longer in order to get to know your family, allow your kids extra time to get comfortable around me, to give us time to adventure, wardrobe change if needed, and most importantly, to be able to provide you with a gallery that achieves Storytelling Photography. If you're looking for a quick 15 minute session for your Christmas cards with everyone looking and smiling - I'm simply not the photographer you're looking for :)
Q: What happens if it rains the day of our shoot?
A: I shoot in any weather conditions unless there is lightning nearby for safety reasons. If it's DOWN POURING with rain, I leave it up to my client to decide if they want to post-pone the session or not without penalty. A session in the rain would look emotive, moody lighting, and extra connection because you'll be holding each other close. Water droplet details on your faces, wet hair, steamy shots of mom and dad, and kids jumping in puddles playing in the rain. It's not for everyone, but I can certainly make it work. The same goes for light rain. If it's just an overcast day, however, there is no reason to reschedule. If the client does choose to post-pone in this case, one one session transfer it permitted.
Q: Can you Photoshop me?
A: I am a Body Positive Business. This means I do not, and will not, alter your body in any way in Photoshop. I will not "make you skinnier", I will not remove your stretch marks. I capture your story, your realness, and your truth regardless of how you look because you are YOU. Beautiful, unique, you. My rule is that if it won't be there in a week, I'll remove it (acne, bruises, rash, etc.)
Q: Can I have the RAWS?
A: I will never, NEVER release RAW images to my clients. Whether you're a graphic designer, another photographer, professional editor, mama, dad, cousin, sister, brother... doesn't matter. I do NOT under ANY circumstances deliver RAW, unedited images.
Q: Can I print my photos?
A: Absolutely! I encourage it! You're investing money into this session for these beautiful images that deserve to be hung on your walls, printed into albums, and showcased! You have full printing rights to your images and can print them as many times as you wish. I do recommend printing through my lab that's connected to your online gallery to ensure the best quality and colour - third parties labs such as Walmart, etc. don't have calibrated labs like professional labs do so if you do end up going to a third party company and the colours/quality seem off... that is why :)
welcome to storytelling photography, where we go until the light is gone and don't watch the clock. these sessions are the yearning of my soul. honesty and vulnerability. it's not just about having something beautiful to frame on the wall for now, or that perfect christmas card photo. it's about entering a mindset of future thinking and presence thinking, and what it is you hope to remember rather than thinking about performing well. what are your kids seeing on the day to day that you want them to remember? and how can we bring that same essence to life in an epic location like a flower field? if there is sadness, i don’t want it hidden. if there is bliss, i want dancing. more than anything, i want time to allow everyone to get comfortable enough to be honest. It's all a part of the story.
